Mazuma Team Members do a LOT of volunteering! Our “40 Hours for Good” program gives each Team Member 40 hours of paid volunteer time each year, and there’s nothing we love more than using those hours to make a difference in our community. One recent event stands out for its size, impressive partnerships, and positive impact.
A Fun, Educational Day for Local Kids
Temple Made Fitness is a local not-for-profit organization that provides youth sports and wellness programs to spark lifelong motivation and health journeys for kids and teens, especially those in underserved communities. Founded by Tony Temple, a Midwest football star, TMF offers in-school and after-school activities focused on developing community and social skills, nutrition, movement, and mindfulness.
TMF’s Wellness Day at the Kansas City Zoo is a day for families to explore and embrace healthy lifestyles through kid-friendly food, movement, and mindfulness offerings – all while enjoying exciting and educational animal encounters around the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium. This year’s event reached 3,000 local kids and teenagers!
Mazuma Makes an Impact
Mazuma was honored to play a role in the event, with Member Experience Advocates Rachel and Rachelle coordinating the largest group of volunteers from one organization. They helped set up the event, run the check-in table, greet the kids and their families with high-fives and gift bags, man the hydration stations throughout the zoo, and add to the energy and motivating spirit of the day.

“The group we brought from Mazuma had so much fun volunteering for Wellness Day at the KC Zoo,” Rachel says. “We could tell we were making an impact just by seeing the smiles on the kids faces and how much fun they were having while also being introduced to these really important life skills. We’re so grateful to Tony Temple and Temple Made Fitness for giving us the opportunity to make a difference that day.”
Tony was generous with his thanks, writing that “I couldn’t thank you enough for this amazing experience with you and your team. We couldn’t have done it without you. Your presence and energy was unmatched from day one!”. Thanks, Tony, and congratulations on an inspiring event!
