Social Security Check Recipients: How to Enroll in Direct Deposit

Mazuma
by Mazuma

Do you or someone you know currently receive Social Security or Supplemental Security Income as a paper check? It’s time to enroll in Direct Deposit to get your benefits directly in your Mazuma account!

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced that starting September 30, 2025, it will no longer issue paper checks for benefit payments. Social Security and Supplemental Security Income recipients should enroll in Direct Deposit with their financial institution to continue receiving benefits.

If you would like assistance with enrolling to receive your Social Security benefits through Direct Deposit, please contact Mazuma at 913-574-5000 or visit a branch location near you.

Why Direct Deposit?

Direct Deposit is the recommended electronic payment option because it is:

  • Safe – Electronic transfers through Direct Deposit substantially reduce the risk that a payment will be lost or stolen.
  • Fast – Benefits received through Direct Deposit are automatically credited into the recipient’s bank account each month.
  • Convenient – Direct Deposit recipients do not need to cash a paper check, either by visiting a branch of their financial institution or depositing through a mobile app.

How to Enroll Your Benefit Payments in Direct Deposit

If you are comfortable enrolling yourself, the Treasury Department is providing online resources to simplify the enrollment process.

To learn more about how to easily switch from a paper check to Direct Deposit, visit the Treasury’s Go Direct website or reach the Treasury’s Electronic Payment Solution Center by calling 1-800-333-1795.
