2025 Mazuma Foundation Grants Support Local Non-Profits
The Mazuma Foundation was launched in 2015 to help our credit union consolidate and quantify the many ways in which we give back to our Kansas City community. One of these ways is through grant giving. Each year, the Foundation offers grant funding to a variety of local non-profit organizations that serve KC in the areas of financial well-being, community development, and the arts.
Committees made up of Mazuma Team Members review the many applications we receive each year, assessing need, impact, mission, and more to determine how available funds will be distributed. Our 2025 grant recipients include 12 incredible local non-profits that provide invaluable service to our community. In total, they received $70,000 in grants to help increase their impact.
Let’s take a closer look at a few of the amazing organizations that received grants in 2025!
Financial Well-Being - SCORE Kansas City

SCORE Kansas City provides free business mentoring to entrepreneurs and small business owners to help them achieve their goals. Through resources libraries and online and in-person events, they’re helping our local economy grow and thrive.
“SCORE Kansas City would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Mazuma Foundation for their dedicated support of our mission to foster vibrant small business communities,” says Geoff Meiteen, SCORE Kansas City Co-Chairperson. “Their contribution ensures that several key resources remain accessible and affordable for local entrepreneurs. We deeply value the Mazuma Foundation’s partnership this year in helping Kansas City’s small business community thrive.”
Community Development – Salvation Army Street Outreach Team

The Salvation Army’s Street Outreach Team provides vital services to the unhoused members of our community, including emergency support and case management, connecting them to housing assistance, job training, and mental health services.
Steve Leiker, the Salvation Army’s Street Outreach Coordinator, says that “the support of the Mazuma Foundation is truly a blessing. This grant will help us to provide food and supplies to the unhoused community in the Kansas City area. Supplies like bottled water, blankets, hand warmers, hats, gloves, hygiene kits, socks, flashlights, and batteries are critical in Winter months. In addition to providing a hot meal and necessities to help our friends withstand extreme temperatures, we can encourage them to sign up for programs to help them get off the street.”
The Arts – What iF Puppets

What iF Puppets inspires play and creates connections through puppetry for children across the Kansas City metropolitan area with touring productions and educational workshops that support social, emotional, and artistic development.
“What iF Puppets is so excited to receive this grant, which will strengthen our work across all areas of our organization,” says Amanda Kibler, What iF Puppets Executive Director. “This support allows our staff and artists to enter schools with engaging puppet programs that teach cooperation and resilience, bring live performances to schools and libraries for audiences of all ages, welcome interns and emerging artists into our studio for meaningful workforce development, and create puppets that elevate productions on stages across the Midwest. This grant from Mazuma Credit Union allows us to nurture creativity and deepen our impact in the communities we serve.”
2026 Grant Applications will Open this Summer
