We are so proud to congratulate Debbie Baumann Barnett, Mazuma’s recently retired VP of Facilities Management, on her induction into the Cornerstone League Hall of Fame — an honor that celebrates outstanding careers in service to the credit union movement.

Baumann received the award during the Cornerstone League’s recent IMPACT Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City. She was joined by former colleagues from Mazuma and across the region in recognition of her contributions.

A 40+ Year Career at Mazuma

Debbie’s career with Mazuma began in 1982 and continued through her retirement in 2025. Over those four decades, she held a variety of roles, including Marketing Manager and Vice President of Facilities Management.

Throughout her tenure, she contributed to the Credit Union’s growth while helping shape our focus on service and community impact in Kansas City.

Leadership Across the Credit Union Industry

In addition to her work at Mazuma, Debbie played an active role in the broader credit union movement. She served as a leader within the Kansas City Chapter of Credit Unions and participated in multiple councils and associations supporting collaboration across institutions. Her industry contributions earned her the Missouri Credit Union League Pioneer Award and reflected her commitment to the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.”

At the national level, Debbie served on America’s Credit Unions’ Operations, Sales, and Service Council and participated in advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill, including support for the Credit Union Membership Access Act.

Commitment to Community Service

Debbie also dedicated significant time to volunteer efforts. In her final three years at Mazuma, she contributed more than 1,000 hours of volunteer service in support of organizations including local Chambers of Commerce, Brush Creek Community Partners, KC Pet Project, and Scouting America.

Recognition of Lasting Impact

Debbie’s induction into the Hall of Fame places her among leaders recognized for their lasting contributions to the credit union industry and the communities they serve. We’re proud to celebrate her contributions to Mazuma, her impact on our Members and community, and this well-deserved honor.
