A New Year's Message from Our Chief Financial Officer

Dear Valued Mazuma Members,

Happy New Year! Your credit union is heading into 2026 full of purpose, drive, and excitement for great things ahead. We hope the same is true for you and your family.

I had the pleasure of attending Reconciliation Services’ Hike for Reconciliation in early November, where Mazuma President & CEO Deonne Christensen and RS CEO Fr. Justin Mathews announced our plans to open a new branch in the RS Impact Exchange building on 31st and Troost. After a years-long partnership with Reconciliation Services, this news is a dream come true for us and an opportunity to more deeply serve our community in the heart of Kansas City’s east side. We’re eager to bring accessible financial products and services, create jobs, and contribute to the resurgence of community-facing retail at this historic crossroads. Stay tuned for more information as we work toward opening in spring of 2026!

Another source of excitement for us and our Members is our Next Generation Digital Banking upgrade, which will be on your screens in the next few months. Members can look forward to an intuitive, updated interface, streamlined functionality, and faster performance for an enhanced user experience.

We’ve also recently rolled out a new Sweep Accounts product through our growing Treasury Management Team that allows business owners to automate transfers between their accounts to reduce the time and cost of daily monitoring, provide additional security, and even increase interest earnings. Business Members, Mazuma is here to maximize your earnings by making sure your cash is working for you!

Two major initiatives fall in the last quarter of each year and allow us to make a big, positive impact on the city we love – our annual Give Back Day and the disbursement of Mazuma Foundation Grants. During this year’s Give Back Day in October, nearly 200 Mazuma Team Members shared their time and effort with 9 local non-profits at 15 locations across the city (continue reading to learn more). And, the Mazuma Foundation’s 2025 grant recipients include 12 incredible local organizations that provide invaluable service to our community through their work in financial well-being, community development, and the arts. In total, they received $70,000 in grants to increase their impact.

With the World Cup on the horizon and exciting things happening at the credit union, it's a great time to be a Mazuma Member and a Kansas Citian! We’re wishing you and your family happiness, health, and prosperity in the new year.

Best,

Justin Mouzoukos, Chief Financial Officer
